Prechordal Mesenchyme

HdM.PrM

The prechordal mesenchyme is mesenchyme primarily contributed by posterior diencephalic and mesencephalic neural crest cells which are anterior to the notochord. The prechordal mesenchyme also contains some contribution from anterior most paraxial mesoderm (prechordal mesoderm) cells, which give rise to the extraocular muscles (EOM) of the eye.
