Coronary Capillary Plexus

Hrt.CCP
The coronary capillary plexus is comprised of endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cells. As the myocardium develops, the nascent coronary capillary plexus displays a density gradient across the transmural axis of the myocardial wall, being higher on the outer, epicardial side than the inner, endocardial side. The last step in coronary vascular development is ingrowth of multiple small vascular channels into the base of the aorta. The small vascular channels coalesce to form single coronary stems in the left and right coronary sinuses.
