Proepicardium

LtPM.PEO
The proepicardium, or the epicardial primordia, that forms most of the epicardium is a mass of cells (aggregates) that seemingly originates in the extra cardiac mesenchyme near the sinus venosus which attach to the myocardium between E9-11.

Recents results indicate that, based on gene expression, there are several molecularly distinguishable cell populations within the developing proepicardium.
