Diencephalic Floor Plate

NT.DFP
The diencephalic floor plate lies in the ventral midline region of the diencephalon and secretes signaling molecules critical toward its role as an embryonic organizing center. While the floor plate along the entire neural axis is uniform, that of the forebrain and spinal cord differ, with respect to morphology, molecular constituents, cell types, cellular origin, and timing of induction.
