Extravillous Cytotrophoblast Layer

The extravillous cytotrophoblast layer is the outermost layer of the human placenta (analogous to mouse the trophoblast giant cell layer), the chorionic villi layer (analogous to the mouse placental labyrinth layer) constitutes the innermost layer of the placenta, while the column cytotrophoblast layer (analogous to the mouse spongiotrophoblast layer) is the middle layer of the human placenta.
