AGS-004, electroporated mature dendritic cells for HIV
Dendritic cells (DCs) that are generated from each subject's pre-antiretroviral therapy (ART) peripheral blood-derived monocytes electroporated with RNA encoding CD40L and HIV antigens (Gag, Nef, Rev, Vpr) and used for treating HIV patients. The treatment promotes immune responses matched to the patient’s unique viral variants.
There were mild adverse events and no evidence of autoimmunity in treated patients. Treatment induced the proliferation of Bm1 naive cells and CD8+ T cells. In some patients, the treatment decreased the level of the viral DNA in the patient's blood. The treatment resulted in reduced viral load and delayed viral rebound.
