ChondroArt™, chondrocytes for damaged cartilage

ChondroArt™ is comprised of chondrocytes isolated from the healthy cartilage of patients, propagated in vitro and implanted into the lesion, under a collagen membrane "patch". The joint regenerates completely. Treatment was found to be safe. Treated patients demonstrated both subjectively and objectively graded knee function improvement, which was sustained over 10 years of follow up. However, the treatment has only a limited therapeutic role in treatment of localized degenerative disease.
