Grafix® is immune-neutral. It contains a matrix which protects the area from inflammation, scarring and infection, growth factors that support cell migration, proliferation and maturation and MSCs that integrate and secrete growth factors.

On October 2013 Mesoblast has reached a deal with Osiris to buy Osiris’ mesenchymal stem cell unit. Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: OSIR), announced on March 1, 2013, the introduction of a proprietary, direct sales force for Grafix®, a premium cellular repair matrix for serious wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers. The team of biologics sales professionals will initially be deployed in 10 major metropolitan areas throughout the United States and is expected to double over the coming year. Field representatives are supported by the Osiris medical affairs staff and a world-class team of stem cell scientists. This organization will enable Osiris to offer wound care practitioners a uniquely sophisticated service, only available from the cell therapy leader with 20 years of experience in the space. According to an agreement with the FDA, the regulatory status of Grafix is confirmed and the product remains on the market as a wound cover for the treatment of acute and chronic wounds. For certain expanded indications for Grafix, Osiris has committed to submit a Biologics License Application (BLA) by leveraging existing clinical data of closure rate of chronic diabetic foot ulcers.
