Mesenchymal precursor cells for type 2 diabetes

Mesenchymal precursor cells (MPCs) are rare cells found around blood vessels in various tissues and are characterized by specific surface markers (STRO-3), the expression of which facilitates their isolation and purification by immunoselection. MPCs are intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and its complications. Treated patients demonstrated no treatment-related adverse events. MPC infusion led to reduced HbA1c levels and improved glucose control.
