Umbilical cord blood-derived hematopoietic stem cells (family)

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) can be isolated from the umbilical cord blood using various isolation and sorting techniques.

This cell population is characterized by  expression of the following markers: CD34CD38− CD90CD45RA− Flt3CD7− CD10and by its ability to promote long-term multilineage engraftment when transplanted into irradiated immunodeficient mice.
