Epithelial cells (family)

Epithelial tissue lines the cavities and the surface of the body. Epithelial cells are bound in sheets through several types of interactions, including tight junctions, adherens, desmosomes, and gap junctions. Tight junctions are a characteristic specific to epithelium.
