Oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) derived from the cortex are late-born oligodendrocytes in the telencephalon. These cells arise, at birth, from Emx1+ progenitor cells within the cortex and comprise the majority of oligodendrocytes present in the adult cortex.
