Sinoatrial Node

The sinoatrial node (SAN) is situated at the junction of the superior vena cava and right atrium and acts in regulating the coordinated cardiac contractions by generating distinct electrical impulses. The generated impulses spread through the atrial chamber myocardium, and initiate contraction of the atria.
