The caudal ganglionic eminence (CGE) progenitor cells are neural progenitor cells within CGE domain, a posterior region where the MGE and LGE domains fuse. The CGE progenitor cells produce cortical interneurons in the striatum, neocortex and limbic system. In addition, these cells develop into oligodendrocytes that migrate into the cortex.
