The medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) progenitor cells are neural progenitor cells within the MGE domain, which is located in the ventral part of the telencephalon. The MGE progenitor cells produce cortical and hippocampal interneurons and early-born oligodendrocytes in the ventricular zone.
